August Community Church Ministry Newsletter
It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the end of a school year and summer vacation and now here we are again – back to school.
Community Church Ministry stayed very busy in July as we helped seven communities get prepared by helping families with their basic school supplies.
We would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to First Presbyterian Church, West Rome Baptist Church and others for their donations. And we couldn’t do what we do without our amazing volunteers – we are so thankful for them!
For this month, we will be at Dutch Gardens MHP on Thursday; August 10, Callier Forrest Apartments on Monday, August 14; Pine Village MHP on Thursday, August 17 and Dutch Gardens MHP again on Thursday, August 24.
We are also looking forward to September, when we hope to hold two early Fall Festivals. Please let us know if you, your church or small group would like to help with these.
As always, we ask that you keep our ministry in your daily prayers. Seek God’s wisdom with what gifts He has given to you that He would want you to share with us as we endeavor to minister to our community.
Blessings in Christ to each of you,
Pastor George Nix

Ministry Therapy
“Sometimes all you need is ministry therapy.” This was a social media post by one of our amazing volunteers, Erica Vaughn. She wrote this about an hour or so after we had sweated together in 80 degree heat to do a community outreach.
What is ministry therapy? I believe it could be defined as serving unselfishly, with your whole heart. Throwing yourself completely into an act of service. The focus point shifts from me, to the other person. For awhile, we forget about the troubles in our own lives.
Jesus set the example. He is the Son of God, and He came to serve.
“Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28
Last night when I got home, my shirt was soaked, my cap looked like water had been poured over it, and I could barely walk. But, I felt peace and contentment. Maybe it was because I had done some “ministry therapy.”
