“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”

‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ ‭

Christmastime already… In fact, if you’ve watched all the commercials and read your emails, it’s been Christmastime since before Halloween!

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season.

No matter how hard we try, our schedules get hectic and stressful.

Don’t let it get to you… Please take care of yourself. Take a deep breath, relax, and thank God for the greatest gift of all, Jesus!

“Now, therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.”

‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭29‬:‭13‬ ‭

David said these words to God because his heart was overflowing with joy and thanksgiving. His fellow Israelites had just given generously for the temple that Solomon was going to build for the LORD.

God has blessed each of us in so many ways. Sometimes we take things for granted and don’t realize how much He has blessed us.

I attended a chaplain’s meeting recently. (I work as a chaplain for Pruitt Health Hospice) One of the speakers gave us a sheet of paper and asked us to write 50 things we were thankful for. That was pretty easy. (I listed people, my ministry, and my vocation in addition to tangible items.) Then he asked us to come up with 50 more. This was a little more challenging, but I came up with fifty more. Then, he asked us to come up with another 50. I stretched my brain and came up with the final list.

The exercise made me realize, like David, that I truly have a lot to be thankful for.

Along those lines, I am truly thankful for you. Thanks for your friendship, prayers, and help in the ministry.

November is Thanksgiving dinner month at Community Church Ministry. We are doing 6 dinners.

Please pray that folks will experience the love of God, for volunteers, and resources to feed many folks.

Here’s the schedule, LORD willing…

All events start at 6:30

Thursday November 3: Darlington MHP.

Monday, November 7: Ashland Park Apts.

Thursday, November 10: Dutch Gardens MHP.

Monday, November 14: Callier Forest Apts.

Thursday, November 17: Willow Way Apts.

Monday, November 21: Swan Lake MHP.

Happy Thanksgiving!

God bless you!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭

I will admit it. I’m directionally challenged… Many times while driving I make wrong turns. I get it honest, though. My dad was the same way. Mom called him “Wrong way Ronnie.”

I’m very thankful for my Garmin. It’s a GPS navigator. In other words, it tells me where to turn, go straight, etc. Even with a Garmin, I sometimes miss a turn.

No worries, it recalculates the route. Sometimes it has to say “make a U turn” when I’ve really screwed up.

A Christian has a built in GPS system inside them… The Holy Spirit. He guides us along the journey.

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”

‭‭John‬ ‭14:26‬ ‭

He instructs us and guides us.

Solomon said: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭

There is a danger in ignoring the voice of the Spirit. Solomon warns us:

“There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭14:12‬ ‭

So, let’s listen to His voice and instructions. He will guide you along the journey of life.

I would truly be lost without my Garmin and without the Holy Spirit living inside me.
