{"id":7284,"date":"2020-08-27T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-08-27T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/communitychurchministry.com\/?p=7284"},"modified":"2020-08-02T13:57:45","modified_gmt":"2020-08-02T13:57:45","slug":"finding-the-right-words","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communitychurchministry.com\/?p=7284","title":{"rendered":"Finding The Right Words"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finding the Right Words<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBlessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+corinthians+1%3A3%2C4&amp;version=YLT\">\u202d\u202d2 Corinthians\u202c \u202d1:3-4\u202c \u202d<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I struggle to find the right words sometimes. What do you say to the father who is watching his 50 year old daughter die of cancer? When he speaks of a hole in his heart that won\u2019t go away?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The day I\u2019m writing this marks my 16th anniversary of becoming a chaplain. You would think I would know what to say each time. I don\u2019t.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not a matter of how much education one has.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I thought and prayed about it this morning, I felt that God was telling me to rely on His words more, not my own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One thing I\u2019ve figured out in all these years of ministry is that I don\u2019t always have the words to comfort. The main thing is being there. A \u201cnon anxious prescience\u201d they call it. A shoulder to cry on. Before this COVID stuff started, I gave a lot of hugs. (I still sneak some in!
